SELLING A FAMILY HOME
I have wanted to be a REALTOR
since my early twenties and the opportunity finally presented itself 25+ years later.
I called Michael Wood because I wanted to sell my mother’s home which is directly across the street from Baker’s Creek. So, I ended up showing Michael everything about the house – the good, the bad, the ugly. He said, “You know Deb, you should be doing this for a living,” and that was all the encouragement I needed.
At the time, I was a marketing consultant for several locally owned businesses in Knoxville and Sevier County. It’s been such an easy and exciting transition. As a Knoxville native and living in the community for more than 25 years, being a REALTOR was natural fit.
My mother was selling a large 100-year-old house with a pool on 2.5 acres. For me, it felt like the selling process was almost hand-choosing the perfect buyer for the family home. It ended up that my brother’s best friend bought the house. They are South Knoxville
people wanting to stay in South Knoxville
. Their family filled up the emptiness of the house and they are enjoying the pool and the revitalization of Baker Creek Bottoms
. And, they absolutely love being able to walk to SoKno Taco
FINDING THE RIGHT BUYER
Finding the right buyer, who happened to be a long time family friend, made the transition seamless and helped my mother feel like she was making a good choice. She ended up moving to a condo that has less maintenance and she transitioned into a beautiful community making great friends and neighbors, so she felt less isolated.
REALTORS HELP DURING STRESSFUL TIMES
I love to share my stories and experiences. I love to help others and relationships are important to me. This is a great career because I really feel like I am helping. As a REALTOR
, I’m intricately involved
in one of the happiest, and most stressful times, of someone’s life.
