Buying a new home can be a stressful event, particularly if you are a first-time home buyer.
- How do I start looking for a house?
- Do I have to pay “list price”?
- What can I afford to spend?
- How do I shop for a mortgage loan?
- Are there any special loan programs for first-time homebuyers?
- Should I get a home inspection?
- How does “closing” work?
- How does a REALTOR® get paid?
Faced with these questions, the importance of a REALTOR® cannot be understated.
Our job is to find that special dream home for you. Do you have a wish list? Are there priorities within that list? Tell us about them. We’ll do an extensive search for you. Have you searched for homes in magazines, in the newspaper and on the internet only to find out that the property is already “sold”? As members of the Knoxville Area Association of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service (MLS), we have access to the most current information. And there are times that we know about properties that will be listed before they are advertised – and you may be the first to see it.
When was the last time you shopped at a retail store, looked at the price tag and negotiated for a lower price – with the store owner? It’s different in real estate. A REALTOR® acts as your agent negotiating the price and terms of your purchase. Further, we can help you find reputable mortgage lenders, home inspectors and a title company to make your dream a reality.
How do REALTORS® get paid? A REALTOR® is paid a commission when a property is sold. The commission is set by contractual agreement between the seller and his or her listing agent with a specified cooperating commission for the buyer’s agent. This means that, in the normal course of business, a buyer does not pay for the services of a REALTOR®. All of our experience, education and expertise are available to you without charge.
All of our agents are professionals licensed through the state of Tennessee and adhere to the National Association REALTORS® strict Code of Ethics. (Visit www.realtor.org to learn more.) Among other things, our duties include maintaining confidentiality and providing service with honesty, accuracy and good faith in a timely manner.
