C. Mike Wood 1931-2010

Mr. Wood -along with his brothers Pat and Jerry founded WOOD AGENCY REALTORS, INC. in 1956. He was the Chief Executive Officer and had an active role in the day to day operations of the company until just weeks prior to his death November 3, 2010.

Mr. Wood has an astounding history of service to our local community and the real estate industry. Recognition of his accomplishments are as recent as 2007, when a celebration was held for his award as Realtor Emeritus by the National Association of Realtors.

Mr. Wood served as President, Regional Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Director of the Tennessee Association of Realtors. He  also served as a Director of the National Association of Realtors, and as President and Director of the Knoxville Association of Realtors.

Mr. Wood was an active member of the Knoxville Association of Realtors, the Tennessee Association of Realtors, the Realtors National Marketing Institute, and a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of WOOD Brothers Construction Company, and a Limited Partner of WOOD Agency, G.P..

Within our community, Mr. Wood served on the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau, and the Board of Directors for the Knoxville Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the South Knoxville Optimist Club, and a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church.

Mr.  Wood also served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

We will miss his wealth of knowledge, his optimism and guidance in our office and in our lives.
